Our Buckle Martingale collar design is the same as our standard martingale, except we’ve added a buckle to the neck loop. If your dog has a large head relative to the neck size, you may not be able to fit the regular martingale design over the head and still have a snug fit around the neck when the leash is tight. Or, you may have to move the size adjustment each time you put it on and take it off, which is a nuisance. With the buckle design you can set it to just the right size and then clip it in place, just like a standard collar.

One negative with the buckle design is that the buckle takes up some of the adjustment range. For example, our smallest regular martingale is 5/8″ wide and adjust from 11″ to 15″. The smallest Buckle Martingale is 5/8″ and adjusts only from 10″ to 12″. Nonetheless, this is the martingale design you want if your dog’s head is large compared to the neck.
